Research

Statement of purpose:

I am passionate about the intersection of innovation/engineering with humanity and public health. This takes foot in my engagements in translational computational medicine, computational science for biology education, health/neuro-humanities, grassroots public health research, and entrepreneurship. My primary interests lie in the use of AI/ML and Data Science n tasks such as (but not limited to) segmentation, classification, vision processing, small-molecule generation, natural language processing, and generative AI.

I seek to create innovations to improve patient, physician, and family outcomes and increase equitable access to quality healthcare.

Engagements:
  • Lee Lab – UNC School of Medicine Department of Radiology
    • Deep-learning powered iNPH diagnostic tool – developing a automated deep-learning powered T1 Brain MRI Segmentation and measurement derivation tool for speedy diagnostic workflows.
    • Minder3D – developing an open-source radiological image analysis platform
    • Perfusion Analysis – creating machine learning powered brain perfusion analysis pipelines.
  • Gomez Lab – Lampe Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering @ UNC
    • IDG Consortium Project – working with the IDG consortium to analyze novel Dark Kinase interaction data to inform pharmacological drug development/discovery, and pathophysiology understanding.
  • DBER Lab – UNC Department of Biology
    • Developed a novel computational biology module for an introductory biology lab course to introduce students to computational science/data science techniques in biology.
  • Public Health Research Institute of India
    • Developing an automatic Kannada transcription and translation software to speed up focus group discussion (FGD) and individual interview (IDI) analysis for grassroots public health research.
    • Using data science techniques to analyze novel public health survey data.
    • Helping to conduct cervical cancer awareness and screening camps.
  • Prev:
    • Heartland Whole Health Institute
      • Served as a scholar at the Heartland Whole Health Institute with a team of four other Morehead-Cain Scholars for our Civic Collaboration Summer! We were tasked with improving implementation of value-based care in rural Arkansas to increase access and quality, while reducing cost.
    • PES University
      • Worked to develop natural language processing powered small-molecule generation pipelines.
